The top reasons to attend a conference:
- Multiple sessions - Attending day-long PD sessions is important, but a full day on one topic can be overwhelming and tiring. A 3-day conference provides sessions over a longer time period, allowing attendees to have time off between sessions to reflect on the information. Furthermore, a wider range of topics provides attendees choice that fits their needs. Multiple presentations on the same topic also allow for different perspectives to consider. I love taking bits and pieces from each presentation to build my personal ideal that best fits my students and classroom.
- Networking opportunities - Conferences bring teachers from all types of schools and demographics together in one place. There is no better place to meet and make connections with other educators looking to expand their understanding and knowledge. Connecting with educators opens our eyes to issues and trends across the state, region, and nation. It opens the door to collaboration, connection and more! A conference provides space for educators to share and learn with others and to broaden their educational reach, as well.
- Get re-energized - There's nothing like being at a conference with thousands of educators that are passionate about the same subject as you. The energy in the sessions and throughout the halls is tangible and exciting. Every time I leave a conference, I have a million ideas buzzing through my head and I can't wait to get back to school on Monday. There is something incredibly refreshing about knowing that I am on the right track and that I know have ideas to help me move forward.
